As well as multiple bags of general rubbish found in Hanwell's Bunny Park 'ploggers' helped send 497 cans, 266 plastic bottles and 355 glass bottles to recycling.

The team of volunteers have joined the local 'Plogolution' which aims to help people keep fit whilst also looking after the local environment.

Michelle Parkes who is one of the organisations founder members said it was a great success:

'' So we picked up LOTS of rubbish! Same as normal with a 5k run and 2k walk. We were lucky to have MGR Removals as they were able to ship a lot of the rubbish we picked up on the run to the finish line. The plog ended with capoeira from the QMC Capoeira School.''

The next Ealing plogging event is scheduled for Pitshanger Park 28th April and you can sign up here.

Meanwhile a new competition for young people under 16 has been launched by LAGER ( Litter Action Group Ealing Residents) Can. They're being urged to design two posters to try and stop people littering and persuade others to pick-up rubbish.
