A new craze will be hitting Ealing very soon.

For those having never heard of the term before, plogging is a mixture of running/walking whilst picking up rubbish at the same time and originated in Sweden.

'Plogolution' started in London earlier this year as two friends went for a run and moaned about the rubbish littering the shorelines of the Thames. They decided to hold their first Plog in Putney and between 16 people managed to pick up over 30 bags of rubbish.

Several large scale plogs later and Plogolution was formed to support happy and healthy communities who are proud to pass their planet down to the next generation.

Volunteers not only get the endorphin high from having taken part in a gentle run but also feel good they have done something to make the local environment cleaner. Plogolution also go into schools to promote the environment, encourage children not to litter and set up school plogging clubs.

Plogolution are now going to be working with Ealing Council to run a number of plogs next year throughout the borough. The first Plog will consist of a 2k walk and a 5k run and start at Rectory Park in Northalt and take place on 20 January next year.

More information can be found on the Plogolution website.
