Pitshanger Lane has made it through to the final three and is now in with a chance of being picked as The Great British High Street in London.

The Great British High Street is a not-for-profit, government funded group which aims to help promote and regenerate local centres across Britain.

Pitshanger Lane was among 230 entries and beat Chiswick High Road to get through to the final. It will now be considered alongside Raynes Park and Roman Road.

John Martin of John Martin Estates, is Chairman of Pitshanger Village Traders’ Association, and is delighted:

''Our entry focuses on the fact that Pitshanger Lane is at the heart of this community and I am personally proud to have been part of that for 20 years and to know that the traders and community all pull together and collaborate in social events and also in issues that affect us all.

''We are overwhelmed at the community response to our bid to be shortlisted in the last three for our category and I can only thank everyone for their support. We traders love Pitshanger – and it seems that so many others do too!''

Traders and residents are using social media to promote the street using #Pitshanger and #GBHighSt

Supporters can vote online, once a day, for the next six weeks. Judges will visit the Lane in the next four weeks, and a final decsion on the winner will be based on half the judges opinion and half on the voting results.
