Traders of Pitshanger Lane have entered the Great British High Street competition and need your support.

There are over 50 independent businesses in the Lane, including butcher, baker and fishmonger and all help create a unique village atmosphere in this part of Ealing.

Their aim is to be shortlisted in the final three in their category of local centre.

Shops are already publicising the entry with a poster in every window and, since social media plays a significant role in the competition, the poster askes everyone for support by using #GBHighSt and #Pitshanger in all their Facebook and Twitter messages.

John Martin of John Martin Estates, Chairman of Pitshanger Village Traders’ Association, says:“As many of the community now know from our posters, emails and word of mouth , the traders of #Pitshanger have entered the #GBHighSt competition in the Local Centre category – and the hashtags are now spreading the word via social media which is what GBHighSt wants to see.

''Our entry focuses on the fact that Pitshanger Lane is at the heart of this community and I am personally proud to have been part of that for 20 years and to know that the traders and community all pull together and collaborate in social events and also in issues that affect us all.

'' This competition is new to us but we have the endorsement of local MP, Steve Pound, whose continuous support is beyond measure and have already been mentioned in a Parliamentary debate last week. We are overwhelmed at the community response to our bid to be shortlisted in the last three for our category and I can only thank everyone for their support. We traders love Pitshanger – and it seems that so many others do too!''

John and his fellow traders invite everyone to visit the GB High Street Facebook page - scroll down to their post on 7th September at 3.28pm showing the Pitshanger entry and to “like” it.
