St Mary’s Perivale is about to host the International Liszt Piano Competition, on Saturday 30 November, in which some of the world’s most talented pianists will each play a short recital to compete for the first prize.

Celebrating the great 19th-century pianist and composer Franz Liszt, whose skills at the keyboard - and showmanship - conferred rock-star status on him in his day, the competition is an important annual event on the musical calendar. This year, for the first time, it will be live-streamed.

The competitors are Svyatoslav Antipov, Mario Cuva, Stephen Gott, Connor Heraghty, Minkyu Kim and Connor Fogel. Their performances start at 2.45pm and the winner will be announced at 6pm. The competition will be preceded by a performance at 1pm by last year’s winner, US-based Corbin Beisner.

Attendance is free, with a retiring collection. Full details can be found on the St Mary’s Perivale website.
