A charity shop worker in West Ealing was astonished to find £2,000 in a brown envelope on the store's doormat on Friday (3 September).

The anonymous donation, which was pushed through the letterbox at vet charity PDSA's store was discovered by surprised store manager Ann Ford as she prepared to open up for the day.

Ann said: "I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw what was in the envelope. It was all in £20 notes, and I was amazed when I realised how much we'd been given.

"We're extremely grateful to the person who donated this money and would like to say a huge thank you. PDSA relies on the generosity of animal lovers to fund its vital veterinary services, and we hope our message of gratitude for this generous gift reaches our mystery donor."

West Ealing PDSA store raises funds to help provide free veterinary treatment for sick and injured pets in need throughout the UK.
