Ealing Council is undertaking a consultation into a possible expansion of the Brentside CPZ in Hanwell.

It is proposed to include a range of streets between Copley Close and Bridge Avenue including parts of Greenford Avenue.

Residents and businesses have until 6 February to have their say by completing a short online questionnaire.

Around 40 streets would be included if residents of them all are in favour of the plan. The council has divided the area into a “Core Consultation Area” and a “Outer Consultation Area” indicating the relatively likelihood of restrictions being introduced. More requests for restrictions have come from the ‘core’ area.

The CPZ is likely to operate for at least 4 hours a day and, if introduced, qualifying residents will pay up to £125 depending on type of engine with electric cars paying the least.

The council says that the move has been made following requests from councillors and residents due to an increased amount of non-resident parking taking place in the area. It says that, if a majority of residents supports the proposals, a CPZ will be introduced with the exact extent of the zone and the operational times will be determined by the responses to this consultation.

The council states in its report on the proposal, “We are also aware of some long standing parking issues across the wider area. Roads such as Elmbank Way and Brookbank Avenue are susceptible to parking displaced from those attending local schools. In view of this, we believe the area would benefit from controlled parking and we are seeking your views to see whether you would like controlled parking introduced in your street.”

Following this process, if a CPZ is approved for implementation, it will usually become operational within approximately six months.
