Ealing Council is encouraging residents to vote for their favourite local park in the nationwide search for Britain’s ‘park of the year’.

Thirteen of Ealing’s parks were awarded a prestigious Green Flag in July, the highest number in the borough’s history. All 13 of those parks are now in the running to be named the country’s most-loved park in Keep Britain Tidy’s annual People’s Choice Award.

A record breaking 1,482 parks and green spaces received a Green Flag this year and now people are urged to vote for which one is the best of all.

Voting is now open. To lodge your vote:
• Visit www.greenflagaward.org.uk
• Select Ealing on the interactive map
• Find and select your favourite local park
• Click the 'Vote for this site' button

Voting will close at midday on Tuesday, 30 September and the winner of the 2014 People’s Choice Award will be announced on 16 October at a ceremony in London.

Councillor Bassam Mahfouz, cabinet member for environment and transport, said:

“Winning 13 green flags this year was a fantastic achievement for Ealing. We all have our personal favourites so why not make it an even better year by casting your vote in the People’s Choice Award to get your favourite local park recognised nationally.

“Let’s get voting and hopefully one of our lucky 13 will go all the way to win the People’s Choice Award.”

Paul Todd, Green Flag Award scheme manager said:

"Following a record breaking year for the Green Flag Award we are now asking the public to decide which of the 1,482 parks and green spaces deserves the coveted People’s Choice Award 2014.”
