A business which started in an Ealing garage and has gone from strength to strength has been awarded a top export prize.

Pai Skincare has been given the Queen's Award for Enterprise based on their increased turnover over the last few years.

Owner, Sarah Brown was living near Ealing Broadway when she quit her marketing job and began to work on a new skin care range in a bid to help her own ultra-sensitive skin condition.

She started from scratch, researched and eventually created a completely new range of nature based products - Pai.

Sarah says : ''Shockingly I discovered that any cosmetics company can label their products as 'organic' regardless of what's in them. We are one of a very few to be Soil Association certified which means independently checked and produced to the highest standards.''

The company launched in 2007 from the converted garage in Ealing but is now based in Colville Road W3, employs 36 staff and exports to over 100 countries.

It's become a favourite of many A-list celebrities, including actress Natalie Portman.

Lst week Sarah went to Buckingham Palace to receive the business award.

Sarah says : '' This is the big award to win and it's a hugely satisfying achievement when I think back to those early years of formulating products from my drafty garage in Ealing Broadway! We've come a long way since then but have never deviated from our mission to help sensitive skin sufferers around the globe."

The Queen's award was given for the company’s outstanding growth in International Trade. To win in this category, a business must show a substantial and sustained increase in export earnings over a three-year period to a level considered outstanding for the products and services concerned, and for the size of the organisation. Since 2013, international trade has grown by 237%.
