The Old Priorians took to Cup action on Saturday, welcoming Saffron Walden to Perivale.

The England international fixture had its impact with both teams lacking some first team members however if it came down to a question of squad depth then it was the OPs who answered the best.

They came out at blistering pace with full back Edd Conway scoring inside the first couple of minutes, a lead extended soon after by Seb Oddi following a break by fellow winger, Myles Stringer.

The ever-reliable James Booth also scored a penalty to give the OPs a 15-0 lead inside the first 15 minutes. Michael Simpson, James Booth and Captain Andrew Wilkie scored further tries before half time to establish a comfortable 36-3 lead at the break.

Saffron Walden fought hard in the second half, happy to run every play and chase the lead with nothing to lose.

They pressured the OPs and capitalized on some errors to score two quick-fire tries. The OPs responded immediately however with Andrew Wilkie scoring his second try before Stefan Rowell also scored to kill the game.

The second half was a very open affair as both teams stretched the game and ran the ball. The OPs picked up a couple of knocks which will be a concern ahead of three huge games in the league however this season is already proving to be a squad effort as they look to maintain their unbeaten record.
