An Ealing man who's successfully campaigned to turn London into the first National Park City (NPC) is urging everyone to get behind the project and help spread the word.

Daniel Raven-Ellison from Northfields first petitioned the then London Mayor, Boris Johnson over five years ago and has been working on getting the backing of all the wards in London.

The current London Mayor, Sadiq Khan, has given his approval and pledged support to the NPC ideal, with aims including creating a greener, cleaner city rich with wildlife with clean waterways and a city where more people choose to walk or cycle.

The National Park City Festival will be taking place over nine days in July and community activity grants are available to support local organisations that want to hold events in their areas (have until March 15 to apply).

Daniel Raven-Ellison has now launched a crowdfunding campaign to get the message out and is planning on creating a free newspaper size guide to getting outdoors.

He says: '' Our aim is to print and distribute at least 50,000 copies of the guide, but we'd like to get 100,000 circulating around the capital. If each of these papers is seen by an average of four people, we will reach 400,000 Londoners. That would be about 1 in 25 people. If we can achieve that, we will have the opportunity to tip the balance and make something amazing happen in our city''
