Detectives have launched a murder investigation following a death of a woman in Northolt.

Police were called at approximately 21:00hrs on Tuesday, 27 May, to a disturbance at an address in Merton Avenue, Northolt.

Upon arrival officers found the body of a 38-year-old woman inside the address. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police await formal identification but ay they are satisfied the deceased is Tahira Ahmed, 38, of Merton Avenue. Next of kin are aware.

A post-mortem examination will be held at Fulham Mortuary on Thursday, 29 May.

Officers from the Homicide and Major Crime Command (HMCC) are investigating the death.

A 41-year-old man was found near to the scene when police attended and was arrested on suspicion of the murder.

He was taken to a west London Police station where he remains in custody.

Officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.
