A man from Northolt has pleaded guilty to beheading his wife at their home.

Police were called to the Naveed and Tahira Ahmed's home in Merton Avenue, Northolt on May 27th at approximately 19:45hrs following reports of a disturbance.

London Ambulance Service were called to the scene but Mrs Ahmed, a 38 year-old mother of two, was pronounced dead soon after.

Ahmed,41, was arrested after fleeing the house and was stopped by officers in nearby Pilgrims Close.

They noticed he had blood stains on his coat and was sweating heavily. He was arrested immediately.

A post-mortem examination revealed that Mrs Ahmed received multiple injuries in the attack. The cause of death was determined as head and neck injuries.

Ahmed, had initially denied murder but changed his plea during a hearing at the Old Bailey.

The judge warned Ahmed that he would face a life sentence for the killing and he would decide on the minimum term at the hearing next week.

He was remanded in custody and sentencing has been adjourned until Wednesday, January 28.
