The newly appointed Ealing Council Director responsible for the rubbish service in the borough has accepted an invitation by Northfield Councillors for a walkabout to see the problems.

Local representatives, Conservative Councillors, Millican, Mullins and Conti have detailed some of the issues and are inviting locals to contact them with specific problems before 17th October when the walkabout is due to take place.

In their InTouch newsletter they say:

Flytipping doubled

Since the introduction of the new wheelie bins in June

  • ·      Ealing Council officers have confirmed that the incidents of flytipping has more than doubled
  • ·      Reports of missed collections of the blue and back bins is more than twice what officers said they anticipated
  • ·      The Council now only contracts for the residential roads to be swept every three weeks instead of weekly
  • ·      However the good news is that recycling has increased

Whilst some people are happy with the introduction of the new wheelie bins many are not. As Northfield Councillors we opposed their introduction but are now working hard with officers to try and ensure that the service finally works for residents.

If there are issues you would like us to raise with the new director or would like to meet her, please let us know.

Parking proposals

Following petitions from local residents there will be consultations again to see if residents want parking controlled.  Separate schemes:

  • ·      North Road, South Road and area, as part of the Trees estate scheme – this autumn
  • ·      Leighton Road, as part of the west Ealing scheme – this autumn
  • ·      Around Fielding School, including Clitherow Ave, Midhurst, Rd, Northcroft Rd, from Burnham Way up to Hessel Road, Newland Gardens – in spring next year

CPZs will only be introduced if a clear majority of residents want them
