Ealing Hospital has introduced the requirement for patients and visitors to wear masks in clinical areas and waiting rooms.

The new measures, which applies in all units run by the London North West University Healthcare Trust (LNWH), comes as Covid-19 cases have spiked again areas.

Ealing and Northwick Park hospitals have both reported an increase in admissions of people with the virus but are reassuring the public that the majority of cases are relatively mild and the situation is being closely monitored.

Helen Hardy, Deputy Head Nurse for LNWH said, “We are adopting a more cautious approach but there will be no changes to our current visiting policy.

“It’s about protecting our more vulnerable patients and staff so we are asking visitors to wear PPE and masks in wards and clinical areas.”

LNWH provides hospital and community services in Ealing, Brent and Harrow.
