An Ealing gift shop run by two friends which has been open less than a year has been select as a finalist in a prestigious national competition.

MOOCH, on Northfield Avenue, Ealing, has been selected for The Greats Gift Retailer Awards 2017.

Evelyn and Sandra

Owners, Sandra O' Connoll and Evelyn O' Flaherty, took over the unit (which used to be Darch and Duff) last year, and have put their own individual stamp on it.

Evelyn says: ''We were delighted to find out Mooch was nominated and over the moon to hear that we were a finalist for  Best Newcomer.  We'd like to thank all our fabulous customers who make what we do a joy and a pleasure.  Also we'd like to thank our families who have been a fantastic support and enabled us to commit 100% to getting Mooch up and running. Thank you and keep you posted!"

The Greats Awards, now in their 15th year, were launched by Progressive Gifts & Home magazine to recognise and reward the UK's very best gift retailers across the retail spectrum.

Sue Marks, Editor of Progressive Gifts & Home says:

"These dedicated awards for gift retailers have risen immeasurably in status over the years and are now universally acknowledged as being true accolades of excellence, bBeing selected as a finalist was a fantastic achievement. There was a huge entry this year, with some outstanding, first class entries."

All retail finalists were decided as a result of an industry wide poll of gift suppliers, reps and agents and validation by a panel of experts.

The Awards recognise and celebrate not only the top independent and multiple gift retailers regionally and nationally, but also outstanding retail employees.

The winners of this year’s will be revealed at an Awards lunch at the Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London, on Thursday May 4.
