Two friends who met through their children's school in Northfields are about to embark on an exciting new creative venture.

Jeweller, Evelyn O' Flaherty of Garden Shed Designs and Sandra O'Connell who designs and makes bespoke cushions under the name Bell Eames, have, until now, had to brave all types of weather selling their handmade goods at local markets, including Ealing Town Centre, Richmond and further afield.

They've loved the markets but are now looking forward to finding shelter from the chill winds and have taken over the former Darch and Duff shop on Northfields Avenue.

For the last three months the two women have overseen its transformation into a brand new and classy looking gift shop.

Evelyn says: '' We always toyed with the idea of opening a shop, especially on a cold, wet market day, but we never really took it much further as because we have children it would always have to be local and of course we already had Darch & Duff - who we could never compete with.  When they announced they were closing up shop after so many years we thought "it's now or never.''

They decided to go for it, and Mooch (as in 'come in and have a mooch around') with special pigeon logo - a nod to London - was created.

As well as selling their own products they will stock candles, skincare, beard care, children's clothing, soft toys, handbags, handmade leather goods, ceramics, cards and lots more.

The two friends have trawled London's many artisan markets and places like Brighton looking for interesting and unique goods.

Evelyn says: '' It's been full steam ahead for the last few weeks and of course we couldn't have done it without our Fantabulous husbands, Kevin and Den, who have been very supportive.

''I am very excited at the prospect of opening and just hope our customers love our products as much as we do.

''I'm very passionate about where I live and want our high street to return to the once vibrant Avenue it was and hope that we are helping to achieve that in our own small way. We look forward to many happy years, serving our local community.''
