2017 will see a big change for the Ealing Mini Mile - it's doing to be held on the day before the Ealing Half Marathon.

Due to huge demand from young runners wanting to be a part of this popular sporting event, it wil take place on Saturday 23rd September and there will be 1500 places available in 2017 compared to 400 places in 2016.

The Ealing Mini Mile was first held on 2013 and has become a much-loved part of the Ealing Half Marathon, giving young runners aged 6-16 the chance to experience a big sporting event and the thrill of crossing the finish line. The race sells out each year, with all places being snapped in under 24 hours in 2016, so anyone wishing to take part is encouraged to sign up promptly.

The young runners cover a one-mile route around Ealing’s Lammas Park, and the 2017 Ealing Mimi Mile will take place from 2pm on Saturday 23rd September with wave times.

Junior members of the local athletics clubs as well as the children of the Ealing Half Marathon runners are often quick to sign up to the Mini Mile, plus the race welcomes a large number of youngsters who have never taken part in a running event before.

Each year a different local school is selected to design the Mini Mile t-shirt, and this year Ealing’s Mount Carmel Primary School has been chosen to create a winning design.

Current Mini Mile course records are held by Charlotte Buckley from Thames Valley Harriers (00:05:43) and Joseph Barnes (00:05:18).

The race awards prizes to the winners of the different age categories and every runner gets their finish time.

Events Co-Ordinator Sandra Courtney commented, “We are delighted to announce that the 2017 Ealing Mini Mile is now open for entries, and that we will be able to accommodate many more young runners by moving the race to the Saturday before the Ealing Half Marathon. There is always a fantastic atmosphere for the Mini Mile and it will be a brilliant way to kick off race weekend. Over 700 places sold within 3 days of the opening of registration and we are expecting the 2017 Ealing Mini Mile to sell out soon.

As keen runners ourselves, we are passionate about promoting running as a sport that is accessible to everyone, and we are excited to be able to give young people the opportunity to experience the atmosphere of a big race.”
