Especially at Christmas time we often think of those less fortunate than ourselves. With that in mind, along with other church members, I have volunteered each week for the past several weeks at the Ealing Churches Winter Night Shelter at St Pauls Church Northfields, where we have hosted a dozen or so men and women with hot meals and a bed for the night. All guests must be referred, with many by Acton Homeless Concern.

More information can be found here and at actonhomelessconcern.org

If you know of anyone sleeping rough or with nowhere to go, in the first instance, you can contact Streetlink.

Sadly there will be many who will be alone over the holiday period and BEfriend is an Ealing based charity who support those who are isolated and housebound without support. Northfields Ward Forum made a grant to BEfriend this year and, if you know someone who they might support or are able to volunteer, then they can contacted at befriend.london

At this time of the year our Northfields Safer Neighbourhood Met Police team are keen to offer advice on keeping our homes and property safe and secure. OWL is the Police approved on-line neighbourhood watch. Through this forum the Police share information about crimes in particular areas and have issued these Season's Safety and Prevention Tips. You are welcome to join the OWL scheme and so can keep informed of local issues - www.owl.co.uk/met/.

The Northfields Library has now closed for three months and will re-open as the Northfields Community Library in April. Regular followers of my newsletters will know that I have offered much support to the Community Library right from the start, as they have submitted their bid. I am pleased that Ealing Council has now accepted their bid and that it will re-open, but am hugely disappointed it will close for so long. More info can be found here

Northfield Ward Forum - the very last public ward forum will be held on Tuesday 4 February at 7:30pm at Northfields Community Centre 71A Northcroft Road. Like many I am very disappointed that the Council have cancelled the ward forums but will make sure that I continue a public forum in some form

Meanwhile please accept my very best wishes to you and yours for Christmas and the new year.
