Cheers! Northfields' Micropub Approved

Council gives conditional planning permission for new local bar

Micropub plans

A micropub and brewery may open this summer after Ealing Council approved an application by two Ealing beer fanatics.

Mark Yarnell and Paul Nock have been given permission to transform the former bookshop 'The Owl and The Pussycat' on Northfield Avenue.

Micropubs are small freehouses aimed at the local community, they mainly serve cask ales, promote conversation and shun electrical entertainment.

The two Greenford High School teachers are keeping The Owl and The Pussycat name but will brew under their own label - Marko Paulo.

They've been given conditional planning permission and will be allowed to open 11am - 10.30 on Friday and Saturday and noon - 10 on other days.

Mark says they received lots of support from the local community - 362 people wrote to the council in favour of the new bar and he is very grateful for that.

When might they open?

Mark says '' We now need to sort out the official lease and do a bit of prep.  We hope to be open by late July, all being well.''
