A long standing employee of Ealing Council has been recognised for her services and awarded an MBE at Buckingham Palace.

Marcella Phelan has worked for the authority for 20 years and is Assistant Director of Children and Families.

Her MBE was in recognition of the work she has done over the years and was presented to her by HRH Prince Charles in a formal ceremony in front of members of her proud family (26 June 2018).

She says she was ' Honoured to receive an MBE for services to the fantastic young people of Ealing from HRH Prince of Wales. Brilliant to have such incredible support as ever from my lovely colour co-ordinated family.''

An added surprise bonus for Ms Phelan was meeting the Bee Gees legend, Barry Gibb, who became Sir Barry after receiving his knighthood during the same ceremony.

She said she was amazed and delighted and it added to her wonderful day.
