Amongst the many London Marathon heroes is a man from Ealing who has raised over £7,000 for a cancer charity.

Lewis Baxter, completed the Marathon on Sunday 23rd April, in just over 4 and a half hours.

Mr Baxter, 29, who lives on Felix Road, is raising money for the charity Worldwide Cancer Research after his grandmother Valerie Fenn battled cancer twice.

The Chartered Financial Planner said: "Last year I trained to do the Bath Half Marathon and managed to raise over £5,700 with three other members of staff from Unividual, Scott, Aimee and Greg. Just days after I finished I decided to raise more money for a cancer charity and the London Marathon has always been on my bucket list.

“I am not going to hide the fact that the London Marathon isn’t easy. I don’t know what more I could have done to prepare for it, I trained hard, ate well and haven’t had a beer since Christmas! It was worth it though for the amount of money we raised. I managed to finish in 4.41, I think I could have done it that little bit quicker but I just hit this massive brick wall with 2K to go.

“Worldwide Cancer Research have just been brilliant. I have never worked with a charity that has collaborated so much with their fundraisers. I think it is important that when you fundraise it isn’t just because it’s a worthy cause, but it is for a charity you can really make a difference to. We had a target of £5,000, we hit it and pushed on to £6,000 and then carried on to £7,000. In total we raised £7,400 with gift aid. Everyone has just been so incredibly supportive, thank you so much”
