The debut novel of a Greenford woman is attracting positive reviews and a 5 star rating on Amazon.

The Colours of Denial by Arti Manani is a psychological romance thriller about a woman who has spent her entire life running away from reality. Then she sees the man who has been haunting her nightmares in real life.

Arti was born in Greenford and lives in the same house she grew up in. She says she always had a passion for writing. She has spent over 11 years of her working career in marketing and copywriting. In 2017 a personal development coach, Gavin Drake, came to her work to help encourage the team to reach their full potential. He asked everyone what they wanted from life and when it was her turn, she told him that she wanted to write her own book. He then asked how far she had got with the book and she was embarrassed to say she hadn’t even started it but realised that it was about time she did.

She says, “I started writing after work one evening and the room was kind of dark so my book started off with darkness. They say there are elements of an author’s personality within the characters they create, and to some extent, that was true for me.”

When she had completed her eleventh draft of the novel she woke up in the middle of the night with a completely different idea for the ending. She says that she is relieved she did this because her readers love the twist in the plot she introduced.

The book is available in paperback and Kindle formats, and is free for Kindle Unlimited customers.
