An Ealing restaurant that's become a local institution will be closing the doors for good this weekend.

After more than 26 years running Lisa’s on Pitshanger Lane, Lisa and Milan Barbaric have announced their retirement.

Lisa and Milan Barbaric

Since going public the couple have been inundated with messages from their loyal customers sad to hear the news.

These are just a small selection:

“Very sensible but where am I going to have my 60th Birthday? Consistently great quality food & always a warm welcome. Enjoy your retirement, well deserved.”

“Although I am delighted for you personally that you are to retire, I am also very sad that your Restaurant will no longer be a port of call for our family gatherings. With your meticulous planning & Milan’s superb cooking made each occasion memorable & very enjoyable.”

“Apart from the excellent food and service, you have always made us & all your customers so welcome & always made us feel special. That is rare these days and we will miss our visits.”

John Martin, Chair of Pitshanger Village Traders’s Association paid tribute:

''I have had the pleasure of knowing Lisa and Milan for 22 years and congratulate them both on their retirement following 26 years on Pitshanger Lane. They have always been great promoters of the Lane and have contributed a great deal to the community and to the various charities they have supported. Lisa has, in recent years, been Treasurer of the Pitshanger Village Traders' Association and has helped a great deal in the various campaigns and initiatives and, without doubt, was one of the proudest people to celebrate the GBHighSt win! Their loyal customers will miss them very much, as will the Lane.''

Lisa's will be closing after service on Sunday January 14th.
