Hilarious comedy caper The Ladykillers, adapted by writer of Father Ted and The IT Crowd, Graham Linehan, comes to The Questors Theatre on 24 March – 1 April.

The original film of The Ladykillers, released in 1955, is one of the great comedies for which Ealing Studios (located only a few hundred metres from The Questors) is renowned.

Mrs Wilberforce, a sweet but strict little old lady, lives all alone in her slowly subsiding house in King's Cross. A group of amateur musicians arrive looking to rent a room, but they are not what they seem – the musicians are in fact a gang of criminal misfits masterminding a robbery!

With only her parrot to help her, Mrs Wilberforce is alone with five desperate men – but who will be forced to face the music?

“As essentially the stooge, I’ve had enormous fun and learned a lot from watching our talented director Roger Beaumont and five brilliant actors bring the gang to life,” says Mary Davies, who plays Mrs Wilberforce. “And as a female actor of no uncertain age tackling this peach of a part, I’m trying hard to forget quite how many have told me I was the obvious choice. Dotty? Old? Sweet? Moi?”

Simon Higginson plays Professor Marcus, the brains of the criminal gang. “Everyone seems to know the film, and when you add that the adaptation is by Graham Linehan (Father Ted, Black Books, IT Crowd and more) it certainly gets their attention.

“The play is a great opportunity for The Questors to showcase what it does best, drawing on its large resources to produce a great cast, crew, set, lighting, original music, and a very experienced director to bring it all together. It's been a great atmosphere to work in which has allowed a lot of creative energy to flow.”

Don’t miss your chance to see The Ladykillers come home to Ealing.
