Joshua Kaynama a pupil at Avenue House School is destined for great things according to reviews of new independent film “Last Passenger”.

Joshua stars as Max, the son of Doctor Lewis Shaler (played by Dougray Scott) in this high speed thriller set onboard a hijacked London train.

8 year old Joshua won the role of Max after his parents applied to a casting call. They sent in a video clip of Joshua playing Dodger in the Avenue House School production of Oliver! at Questors in Ealing, where he is also an active member of the Youth Theatre.

He was then invited to meet with the Children’s Casting Director and Director Omid Nooshin himself for an audition. Joshua was recalled several times to ensure he was up to the difficult demands of the role including being able to cry convincingly with fear.

Perhaps for Joshua a particularly exciting part of the whole experience was getting to spend time with Dougray Scott in order to portray a believable bond with his on screen father. They went bowling together and got to know a bit about one another which then translated very effectively into their chemistry on film.

When asked for his over-riding memory of the whole experience Joshua replied simply: “It was the best five weeks of my life!”
