Job swap with a difference
Lee Bartlett, publican of the Lord Nelson in Brentford is used to pontificating over a pint or two. But on Sunday 7th February he'll be doing it in more unusual surroundings. He's agreed to take part in a job swap with the local vicar, and will be waxing lyrically - not at the bar - but in the church. He'll be talking about his role in the community in the sermon slot at St Faith's on Windmill Road (on the Ealing/Brentford border) 10am. Lee agreed to participate in a temporary job swap with the Reverend Derath Durkin after they both identified that they have key (and not so dissimilar) roles in the community. The Reverend fulfilled her part of the deal last weekend and helped increase pub takings by pulling pints for the night. She said: “Phew!! What a night!! The pub was bustling with so many people, the atmosphere absolutely great in there. "I was touched by the support of so many from St Faith’s and St Paul’s who came with their families to support me. The bar staff were very generous and helpful to me. They were a joy to work with. I had dreaded being asked for some weird and wonderful cocktail, but despite many threats to do so, thankfully no one did!'' Sunday at 10am at St Faith's will see Lord Nelson landlord Lee talk about his role in front of a different congregation. He says he is terrified but is hoping to see lots of friendly faces. All are welcome to the service which will be followed by tea and coffee.
