Police investigation after man was discovered collapsed near the play area

A man is in a critical condition after being found collapsed in Walpole Park.

Police say they were called at 8.50am on Monday, 17 February to the play area and found the man, believed to be aged in his mid-sixties, near the sandpit.

The man was suffering from serious head injuries and ambulance officers and a helicopter from London’s Air Ambulance service attended the scene.

He has been taken to a central London hospital where his condition is described as critical.
Officers are attempting to contact his next of kin. A crime scene is in place.

Police say there have been no arrests at this time.
