On Saturday The Friends of Horsenden Hill held a summer Woodland Craft Fayre. People came from all over to enjoy a day of entertainment and have the opportunity to experience hands on craft skills. They made paper from mushroom pulp decorated with wild flowers, were shown how to carve a butter knife and hazel pencils, strip and prepare branches using traditional tools and join in with the on site Forestbuds Forest school. Food and drink was available with 12hr slow cooked outdoor bred pork cooked in the Hill's outdoor clay oven and beer made on site by the Perivale Nano brewery, which is even smaller than a micro brewery! The kitchen in the Hayloft meeting area, recently handmade by local craftsman Tom Bickerdike, was officially declared open and served hot drinks and handmade cakes throughout the day. Music and traditional dancing entertained the crowd, face painting was available and a variety of stalls were also selling their crafts.
