A new monthly film club will be launched this month and has an Oscar winner's seal of approval.

“12 Years a Slave” will be the movie playing at  Hattie’s club on Wednesday 18th February, at the Victoria Hall, Ealing Town Hall.

Director and former Ealing resident, Steve Mc Queen has endorsed the screening and collaborated with Priscilla Mensah -the club's founder - and written a letter to be read out, on the night.

Steve Mc Queen has also provided signed posters of the film which will be special prizes to be drawn in a raffle draw on the night. All ticket sold have a unique number and these will be automatically entered into the draw.  A donation from the screening will be going to Ealing Food bank and Great Ormond Street Children’s hospital.

The name Hattie’s Club was inspired by the first black woman to ever win an Academy Award… Hattie McDaniel. She won her award for best supporting actress, in the 1939 film Gone with the wind.

‘Hattie’s Club is on the lookout for up and coming film directors seeking to promote their films to a new audience.  So aspiring McQueen’s, apply within!

Door open at 19.15pm
