Hanwell Station Gets Step-Free Access | |||
New lifts at the southern entrance helps station to becomes more accessible
Customers at Hanwell station have step-free access from the street to the platform for the first time. It's a major part of an upgrade of accessibility improvements across the TfL Rail network in preparation for the Elizabeth line. Two new lifts mean that the station is step-free from the southern entrance, with work continuing to make all entrances step-free. The ticket office has been refurbished to include an accessible window and there are improved customer information screens displaying live travel information including local bus departure times. As a Grade II listed station, Transport for London (TfL) has aimed to protect the historical features, ensuring a vital aspect of local and railway history is preserved. A new waiting room is currently being installed on platform 2 with the waiting room on platform 3 being refurbished and the existing toilet converted into an accessible facility. These improvements are due to be completed this summer
