Crews Tackle Blaze on Uxbridge Road in Hanwell

Ten people were evacuated from properties after a fire broke out near a parade of shops in Hanwell.

Six engines were called to the scene on the Uxbridge Road near Wheel Change and Grays garage.

A fire investigation team was also called to the scene.

The Met Police say the fire was at a building site and happened around 4am - some road closures were put in place whilst crews tackled it. It's believed to be non-suspicious and the roads are open now.

London Fire Brigade say around 40 firefighters tackled a blaze in the building which was under refurbishment which housed a shop with flats above.

Part of the second floor of the building was damaged by fire. Ten people were evacuated from surrounding properties as a precautionary measure. There were no reports of any injuries.   

The Brigade was called at 0339 and the fire was under control by 0650. Fire crews from Ealing, Southall and Acton fire stations attended the incident.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
