The  roof of a house on Montague Avenue in Hanwell has been badly damaged in a fire.

London Fire Brigade was called on Tuesday evening (19th May) after a neighbour saw smoke and raised the alarm.

Watch Manager Matt Alexander said:

“When fire crews turned the corner they could see the roof was well alight. Firefighters had to work really quickly to stop the fire spreading to the first floor and managed to confine it to the roof, which was badly damaged by the blaze.”

Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers from Ealing, Acton, Heston and Southall fire stations attended the incident.

The Brigade was called at 1927 and the fire was under control at 2025.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
