Plotholders at Northfields Allotments in West Ealing are set to host the historic site’s third annual Halloween Pumpkin Trail.

On Saturday 27 October between 3pm and 7pm the local community will pack out London’s oldest allotments playing host to phantoms, ghosts, zombies and witches, all eerily lit with Jack-O’-Lanterns.

Ghoulish treats on the day will be accompanied by a barbecue, a bar serving beer and mulled wine, and tea and cakes.

Those wishing to get into the spirit – beware the spirits – are encouraged to don their spookiest Halloween outfit to add to the supernatural atmosphere. And don’t forget to bring a torch – who knows what lurks in the bushes.

Entry is FREE, although donations are welcome. Onsite stalls will accept cash only.

Access to the site will be through the main gates towards the north end of Northfield Avenue (opposite Dean Court). Visitors will also be able to join the trail via the south gate at Occupation Road or via Mattock Lane where the trail runs down Radbourne Walk to the east of the site.

Since the trail is narrow, visitors are requested where possible to leave pushchairs at home, however there will be a buggy park in the middle of the site, accessible through the main gates.

Dogs are welcome if kept on a lead.

Christina Fox, chairman of the Ealing Dean Allotment Society, said: “This will be our third Halloween Pumpkin Trail. It is always an extremely popular event, with more than 2,500 people coming through the gates last year in a fantastic display of support for London’s oldest allotments. Northfields Allotments are hugely valued by the community here in Ealing and the popularity of our events underlines the importance of green spaces in this built-up part of West London. I know I speak for all of our plotholders when I say that we are really excited to be inviting visitors back into the allotments again this Halloween.”
