Tea and coffee supplies not used by travellers on GWR over Christmas have been donated to Ealing Foodbank.

Additional hot drinks were brought in over the holiday period when the rail modernisation programme saw customers diverted to Ealing Broadway station (due to the closure of Paddington).

Ealing became GWR’s London terminus with up to 14 trains using the station every hour during the Paddington closure. The tea and coffee was to be provided as complimentary refreshments to passengers should there had been any significant disruption to rail services.

GWR’s Project Manager for the Christmas programme of work around Ealing Ian Mundy said:

“Using Ealing Broadway as our main London station was always going to be a challenge and we made lots of contingency plans to keep our passengers moving should anything have happened. But it all went really smoothly and as a result I am delighted we are able to help out the Ealing Foodbank in this way.”

Hilary Padmore from Ealing Foodbank said:

“We are really grateful to GWR for this donation, it will go a long way to help with the work we do here especially at this time of year. To have the support of a big company like this will hopefully encourage other similar organisations to support the Foodbank and the vital work we do.”
