The second phase of the Green Man Lane redevelopment has been given the go-ahead.

Ealing Council has granted planning permission for 187 new homes - 126 for private sale and 61 affordable homes.

Demolition work is set to start in April 2014, with construction under way in August 2014 and taking around two years to complete.

Work will also start on a new community walkway providing a direct link from the south to the north of the development and to the local neighbourhood, which will move through a new central park for the development.

A2Dominion and Rydon are responsible for Phase Two of the Green Man Lane development, which has been designed by Conran and Partners, Sir Terence Conran’s architecture and design practic

David Price, A2Dominion’s Regeneration Director, said:

“This planning consent signals a new major milestone in the development of the Green Man Lane estate. With the first phase nearing completion, the regeneration project is already beginning to transform this run-down 1970s estate and we look forward to progressing with this exciting next stage to deliver even more high quality homes.”

Tom Rigby, Development Director for Rydon added:

“Ealing Council’s unanimous support for this next phase demonstrates their continued confidence in our combined teams’ ability to design, develop and deliver these high quality, much needed new homes and community space for West Ealing.”

Lee Davies, director of Conran and Partners and the architect of the new Green Man Lane community, said:

“We have continued to talk extensively to local people and to the steering group set up with the community. Listening is important. We have had public exhibitions and meetings and wherever possible have managed to take on board the thoughts of the local community about what they want to see in their new neighbourhood.”

In total, the Green Man Lane regeneration will deliver over 700 new homes across four phases for rent, shared ownership and private sale. There will also be a raft of new facilities including a community café, enterprise units, green spaces and play areas.

A community wide energy centre provides energy-efficient heating and energy to the new neighbourhood.

Phase One of the regeneration, which is nearing completion, includes 176 homes and is set to be finished in early 2014. A total of 81 have been occupied so far.

The third phase of the regeneration is set to start in early 2017, subject to securing reserved matters planning approval against the consented masterplan.

The new affordable homes from Phase One at Green Man Lane are being delivered to provide new accommodation for those people who have been living in the blocks set for demolition in Phase Two.
