Outline plans for the final phase of the Green Man Lane development in West Ealing have been published. Comments from the public are requested by Friday 15 May.

Phase 4 of the scheme will see around 350 new flats in buildings which will range in height from four storeys to 15 storeys and will be significantly higher than the rest of the development.

No CGI has been provided by the developer, Green Man Lane LLP which is a joint venture between A2 Dominion and Rydon construction. They submitted a previous outline plan for the estate in 2016 but that has lapsed and this new plan significantly extends the size of the development.

Opponents of the scheme point out that the brochure for the scheme claims that ‘many neighbouring buildings along Singapore Road now reach 15 storeys.’ In fact there are currently none of that height on the road and just one under construction in the vicinity (96-102 Broadway).

Their brochure states that they are ‘committed to engaging with the residents of the estate and the wider community’ but they did not notify local media that the consultation was taking place hence the late notice.

A ‘webinar’ was held about the development on 6 May to which members of the public would have had access but not indication has been given to us as to how many people participated.

Phases 1, 2 and 5 of the project are completed with over 300 housing units and a primary school built. Phase 3 is under construction and is due to include 143 new flats by 2022. Phase 4 is anticipated to complete is Autumn of 2023.

A planning application is being submitted to Ealing Council in the summer with permission hoped for by the end of the year. Work would commence in Summer 2021.
