The road is now a 20mph zone with the aim to make the area safer and more appealing for people walking, cycling and using public transport.

New trees have been planted to provide shade, shelter and greenery, benches have been installed and the road has better lighting and improved, wider footways.

Cllr Mik Sabiers, Ealing Council’s cabinet member for environment and highways said: “The council has worked in partnership with Harrow Council and TfL to make these significant upgrades around Greenford Road and Sudbury Hill High Street in order to contribute towards a safer and more attractive neighbourhood for local people. These changes will also see a boost for the local economy and the vibrant local high street.

“A significant number of trees have also been planted which is welcome news for our local biodiversity and wildlife, as well as being pleasant and beneficial for residents.”

The council has launched an online consultation to capture people’s thoughts on how the works were carried out, along with what people think of the finished product. Any interested residents, businesses or visitors to the area are invited to complete the survey.
