Free advice and support is available to help cut energy bills.

Healthy Homes Ealing, previously COSIE, is a free, year-round hotline. Residents can call 0800 083 2265, Monday to Friday, between 9am and 5.30pm, for help on making their homes more energy efficient, keeping well at home, fuel debt advice and reducing bills in the summer and the winter. There is also an online referral form at www.ealing.gov.uk/energyefficiency.

Anyone can call the hotline for free advice, but vulnerable residents who have difficulty paying their fuel bills, and have hard to heat homes could also qualify for a Green Doctor home energy visit. This involves energy saving experts visiting the home to give tailored advice and putting in place free energy saving measures as well as offering a winter warmth pack with essentials for keeping cosy in the colder months.

Councillor Hitesh Tailor, cabinet member for health and adult’s services, said: “Extremes of hot and cold weather can affect people’s health as well as their pocket, especially the elderly, the very young or people who are ill. These people are at particular risk of their health being affected by extremes of cold and heat.

“Our Healthy Homes Ealing hotline helps residents to make their homes more energy efficient and to stay healthy. And for people who qualify and need some extra help, our Green Doctors are on hand to give face-to-face advice on keeping fuel bills low while staying comfortable.”

Ealing Council's energy experts will be going out and about around the borough during autumn and winter giving free energy advice.
