An adventurous Ealing Councillor is taking on new challenges this summer - far away from the borough politics.

Liberal Democrat, Gary Malcolm, is planning to climb a 6,510 metre mountain in Iran and will also visit Mongolia to tackle four snowy peaks - including Mount Nairandal (4,082 metre) where Russia, China and Mongolia meet.

Cllr Malcolm is raising funds for the dementia charity 'Forget Me Not Buddies' - a group run by carers and volunteers who help others, both people living with Dementia and family members whose lives are affected by it.

The group offers contact, support and a framework to regularly meet up with others in a similar situation with a weekly support group in a safe and social environment, along with planning and subsidising events and outings.

He's appealing for donations for his climb  more information can be found here.

Cllr Malcolm said: "The idea of going to visit countries that many people do not visit and raise money for a good charity is very exciting. When I got my visas through I jumped in the air. I am so excited."
