A man from West Ealing described as a 'prolific gang member' has been jailed for 16 months after police found a 20cm knife hidden down his trousers.

Siovash Mohammed-Khani, 22 , of Felix Road, W13 had previously pleaded guilty to being in possession of a bladed article in a public place at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 15 February.

On Thursday 13 February police officers from Hammersmith were on patrol in the area of Creighton Close, W12 when they came across a group of men in a car.

Police say the men were hostile towards the officers and refused to be searched. More police were deployed to the scene after they became increasingly aggressive.

Officers saw Mohammed-Khani place his hands down the waistband of his trousers in an attempt to conceal something. He refused to comply with the officers requests to remove his hands and tried to exit the vehicle. Officers had to forcibly prevent him from doing so.

Mohammed-Khani was taken to Shepherds Bush police station and strip searched.

He was found to be concealing a camouflage lock knife between his buttocks. The knife had a total length of 20 cm with a blade of 9cm.

DC Neerav Patel, Gangs Task Force at Ealing, said:” Mohammed-Khani is one of Ealing’s most prolific gang members who has an offending history dating back to when he was a teenager. Undeterred he has continued to commit crime and his gang association has spurred on his criminal career.

'' A concerted effort by Ealing police has led to the removal of a prolific offender from our streets and I am satisfied that he has been given a substantial custodial sentence. We remain dedicated to the war against gang crime and will continue to make the streets of our borough a hostile place for those who choose to engage in this type of criminality.”
