Objections have been made to proposals to use Blondin Park as a site to host a fun fair.

Ealing Council's events department contacted Northfield Councillor, David Millican, informing him that due to bad weather this year's Bob Wilson's funfair was unable to make use of the scheduled locations elsewhere in the borough and have lost considerable revenue.

They are now seeking to rectify this by adding new dates and different locations.

Blondin Park has been identified as a possible location because of its space, and the plan would be to have a smaller set-up with rides catered for children and families.

The opening times could be weekdays from 12-22.30pm and Fridays/Saturdays and Sundays from 12- 23:00.

Cllr Millican has registered his objection saying, '' I do not support Wilson’s FunFair utllising Blondin Park.  Access to the park is via very residential roads and residents would not appreciate the inevitable noise and large numbers of people traipsing past their homes until well past 2300, when the funfair closes.''

Residents have already contacted him expressing opposition too, with comments including:

'' My immediate thought is that Blondin really isn't big enough.  It would probably make a terrible mess of the ground. The park is well used for sport, play, walking etc. and all these activites would be disrupted, not to mention the disruption to neighbours.

'' I am horrified by this! Apart from the potential problems your have rightly raised, with which I agree wholeheartedly, I am especially concerned about the effect of such a large event on the ecology of our small park.''

'' We do strongly object to plans for Bob Wilsons Funfair to be held in Blondin Park this Summer. We have already had several problems with anti social behaviour in the park these last few months so the thought of hundreds of people nightly trying to park and come and go without waking up our young children at 11pm at night is just awful.''

Cllr Millican is seeking more views of residents on this matter.
