You will be aware that most boys’ clubs play on Sunday mornings - making regular church attendance difficult. A group from St Mary’s Church took the initiative to deal with this by forming a soccer academy called South Ealing Saints (the SES). The principles of the SES are to be inclusive, supportive and provide an example of Christian values in action to our boys.

The SES offers organised coaching sessions followed by training matches, and also plays friendly matches and occasional tournaments during the year. Last year, we won medals and trophies in various age groups at the Kick London and the London Churches Football tournaments.

Boys in school years four to eight inclusive are eligible to join. The activity takes place on Ealing Common (close to the Grange Pub) from 9.30 - 12 noon for on Saturdays during term time. Prospective new members are welcome to join on Saturday 11th September 2010 at 9.30 am.

There is no membership charge for SES, and the coaching squad is largely composed of parents of children at SES. There is, however, a £25 contribution per boy to cover expenses (e.g. equipment, the occasional visit to ‘Goals’ in Perivale). All members wear the SES training kit - yellow and black - which costs c. £40.

Studded football boots and shin guards are compulsory, and anyone without these will not be able to participate on safety grounds. We do, however, have a “boot bank” stocked with outgrown boots which are normally available during the first day of the new season.
