Ealing Election Candidates To Be Announced

List of those standing locally will be available next week

Polling cards for the UK Parliamentary General Election will be sent out to voters in the second week of May. People who are not on the electoral register have until Monday, 22 May to register.

British, Commonwealth and Irish citizens aged 18 or over are eligible to vote. Most Ealing residents will already be registered.

Those registered to vote at the EU Referendum in June 2016, and who still live at the same address, will be automatically registered and do not need to apply again. Those that have changed address since then, or who are registering for the first time, should go to www.gov.uk/register-to-vote where they will be asked for their name, address, date of birth and national insurance number.

Online registration is quick, secure and easy. People without access to the internet can request a paper form from Ealing’s electoral services team by calling 020 8825 7777.

Residents also have until Tuesday, 23 May to apply to vote by post or to change an existing postal vote.

Paul Najsarek, chief executive of Ealing Council, said: “Most people will already be on the electoral roll, but if you aren’t, it’s crucial that you register now. Ealing’s voter turnout increased to 68% at the last general election, with thousands more people using their democratic right to vote. Every vote is important, but local people will not be able to have their say unless they are registered.”

The list of candidates will be available from 5pm on Thursday, 11 May at www.ealing.gov.uk/elections.
