ealing Independent College

Last year Ealing Independent College was at the top of the rankings amongst both independent and state schools in West London and say the results this year do not disappoint.

21% of the grades awarded were AAB or higher with as many as 44% of students achieving A*/A in Chemistry and 30% achieving A*/A in Biology. Almost 60% of grades awarded were B or better in line with the strong results last year, and 99.3% of all students across the College achieved A* to E and passed their exams.

The College has for the last couple of years had an outstanding value added score ranging between +0.24 to +0.28, and will be likely to improve further again this year once the final results are known after remarks. Particularly gratifying are some exceptional performances by the intensive year students who re-sat their A-Levels - this will undoubtedly keep the College’s position in the Government’ League Tables as one of the top colleges in helping students improve their grades.

Principal, Dr Ian Moores, said: ''I am delighted to report that it has been another great year for Ealing with many outstanding value added scores for those re-sitting their A-Levels. The College shows consistently strong results year on year which places it as one of the top Colleges of its type, and I believe that the approach we take and the learning environment we provide at the College enable our students to reach their true potential. I strongly encourage students who have under-achieved this year at their school to make an appointment to see me and consider resitting their examinations at Ealing next summer. Opting for a place at a lesser university or a course that doesn’t quite ‘fit’ can be an expensive mistake and students should take stock and not rush into a second best choice.''

The top 5 students were:

Mohamed Yagoub:  A*A*AA will read Finance at LSE (A*s in Chemistry and Mathematics)

Hamze Ali:  A*A*A will study Chemical Engineering at UCL

Ben Berisha:  A*AA will study Chemistry at Bristol(A* in Chemistry)

Malcolm Olsson:   AAA will study Banking and International Finance

Haya Maki: AAA will read Medicine in September 2017

Students who re-sat their A-levels performed particularly well. Some of those include:

Sebastian Ross re-sat Mathematics and Biology and achieved a 7 grade enhancement - DD to AA*. The A* was in Biology.

Michelle Pavlova achieved a 6 grade enhancement in two subjects to AB, taking Chemistry up from an E to an A.

Manveen Manish moved from UE to CC in Chemistry and Biology.

Another student scored AAB after a 4 grade enhancement.

Michelle Thompson achieved a 4 grade enhancement (CD to BA) the D to A was in Chemistry.
