Volunteers are needed for Ealing's biggest sporting event of the year.

Each year, hundreds of people get involved and help make Ealing Half Marathon an award winning success for the runners and spectators alike.

Organised by two local women, this large scale event has put running and fitness on the map in not only Ealing, Brentford, Hounslow and the surrounding boroughs but also attracts runner from across the globe. With support from the community and the amazing volunteers this has resulted in the race winning awards in the UK's Best Half Marathon category FIVE years in a row.

Research shows that volunteering helps develop leadership, decision-making and negotiation skills. It can also help people develop as individuals, boost morale and improve retention in companies.

On Sunday 29 September, the 8th Ealing Half Marathon takes place and they will be putting together a volunteer team of 700 people, looking after the race village in Lammas Park and the 13.1 miles of closed roads in Ealing guiding the thousands of runners and helping local residents.

Volunteering is a great opportunity to feel part of the event and meet new like-minded people. It’s a fun & rewarding experience for all and they would love you to get involved. You will need to be able to give between 4 to 6 hours on the day depending on where you are volunteering. The required start time for most volunteer areas will be 7:30am to allow for all the logistics on the day.

There are a large number of roles available on race-day:

  • Team Leaders
  • Traffic co-ordinators
  • Race marshals
  • Water station teams
  • Baggage & race village co-ordinators

Head to the website www.ealinghalfmarathon.com Volunteer section. Choose a spot from the volunteer roles and the race will be in contact with you nearer the event weekend – don’t forget to put it in your diary now! All training and information is supplied so you don’t need experience, just a keenness and willingness to help.

The event is also really keen to hear from Companies, Community Groups, Clubs & Charities who can organise a team of volunteers.
