Amongst the thousands running for many good causes at Ealing's Half Marathon this Sunday will be local councillor Bassam Mahfouz raising funds for the family of a colleague who died at just 35.

Stef Lana O Connor, has been described by friends as ' Inspirational, courageous, tenacious, a real go-getter, Stef really cared about the people she had in her life and we were all the better for having known her. She was a truly loveable, funny, witty, charismatic, beautiful, brave and caring woman.  She could light up a room with her smile, charm, wicked sense of humour and boy was she loud and proud!''

She had just celebrated her 35th birthday when cancer took her leaving her two young daughters without their mother. Now, friends and colleagues are trying to help and support the family at this difficult time.

Cllr Mahfouz who has tun the Ealing Half before will be joining a team 'Sprinting For Stef' and supporting the cause.  He says:

'' Stef was a bubbly character who was so full of life and love. She always loved helping people and brightened up any room she entered. Stef’s role within the team was to help residents in Ealing and beyond turn their dreams of setting up their own business into a reality. Happy, positive, smiling, her magnetic personality was a real inspiration to those she worked with. As was Stef’s resilience when she found she had cancer, which was immense. Even during that time she was thinking about how she could help others through such a struggle. To be gone at such a young age is irrepressibly painful, but when you have to leave two little girls behind it’s impossible. We’re so grateful for every pound donated.''
