If proof were needed that the Ealing Half Marathon is a very special race - with very special runners - one of this year's entrants is donating his top prize to raise money for charity.

Every Ealing Half Marathon 2015 runner got entered into a draw to win a £1,800 Mercedes smart electric bike, and Pedro Das Gupta, from Teddington was the lucky winner when his name was picked at random from nearly 5,000 finishers.

Pedro, who finished the race in a fantastic time of 01:40:01, commented:

"The Ealing Half Marathon must be one of the best running events in London. Great organisation, support from the locals all the way around the course, helpful marshals and to top it all I've won a lovely ebike."

“I would like the ebike to be auctioned and the proceeds to be given to Alzheimer's Society.”

The ebike is up for auction on eBay now with 100% of the proceeds donated to Alzheimer’s Society. You can find it here (ebay reference number 321952685888) - starting bid at £500.

Mercedes-Benz Brentford supported the Ealing Half Marathon for the third year running, and the event again provided the perfect opportunity for the team to get involved with the local community. The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT was the lead car for the race last September, and fourteen members of staff took part and raised over £400 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Trevor Webb General Manager of Mercedes-Benz Brentford said: “We’re always keen to support key community events and the Ealing Half Marathon helps us raise money for charity, not to mention helping to keep our staff fit! Congratulations to Pedro for winning the ebike.”

Sandra Courtney, Event Co-ordinator, Ealing Half marathon added: “We would like to thank the Mercedes-Benz Brentford team for their invaluable support and we are looking forward to working with them again in the future.”

The Ealing Half Marathon 2016 takes place on Sunday 25th September and will be celebrating its 5th anniversary. The race is well known for its huge community support and great atmosphere with runners travelling from all over the UK and abroad to experience the #EalingFeeling .

A total of 8,000 places are available for 2016 and entries cost £36 for affiliated runners and £38 for unaffiliated runners.

Throughout December a donation of £5 will be made to Ealing Churches Winter Night Shelter from each race entry received.
