Alzheimer’s Society will be the Headline Charity for Ealing Half Marathon for the 2nd year.

Taking place on Sunday 27th September 2015, the Ealing Half Marathon is well known for its huge community support with runners travelling from all over the UK and abroad to experience the #EalingFeeling .

The Ealing Half Marathon was voted ‘Best Half Marathon’ at The Running Awards 2014 and is a firm fixture in the autumn running calendar.

Alzheimer's Society is the leading support and research charity for people with dementia, their families and carers, working to improve the quality of life of people affected by dementia in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

In 2015 there will be 850,000 people with dementia in the UK, with numbers set to rise to 1 million by 2025. Alzheimer’s Society raised over £50,000 at the Ealing Half Marathon 2014 and they are hoping to beat this figure in 2015.

Anyone wishing to run for Alzheimer’s Society can choose this option during the registration process or get in touch with the events team on 0845 306 0898 or events@alzheimers.org.uk

Race Director Kelvin Walker commented:

“We are proud to announce Alzheimer’s Society as the Headline Charity for the 4th Ealing Half Marathon. As race organisers we feel as passionate about charity fundraising and giving something back as we do about running. The race is a fantastic platform for Alzheimer’s Society to raise funds and awareness, and we are proud to support them in their fight against dementia. We are looking forward to working with Alzheimer’s Society and we would like to encourage as many runners as possible to run for this great charity.”

Kat Cox, Events Fundraising Manager at Alzheimer’s Society said: “We are proud to be the headline charity for the 2015 Ealing Half Marathon for the 2nd year running. Last year’s event had a wonderful, friendly feel to it and we would love to welcome runners to the Alzheimer's Society team for 2015. One person develops dementia every three minutes and funds raised through events like this help to provide vital support for people living with dementia and their carers.”

A total of 8,000 places are available for 2015, with entry costs of £34 for affiliated runners and £36 for unaffiliated runners. All finishers receive a medal and online e-goody bag and they get entered into a draw to win a Mercedes bike. The route remains unchanged for 2015, taking the runners around Central Ealing, Montpelier, Pitshanger, West Ealing, Hanwell and St Stephens before crossing the finish line in Lammas Park.

The Ealing Half Marathon attracts an international running field but it firmly has its roots in the local community and sees a lot of support from local businesses, residents and runners. The race is a Community Interest Company (CIC), which exists to benefit the community rather than private shareholders.
