On 5 November 1979 Ealing Hospital formally opened its doors to patients. 40 years later, to the day, thankful patients will be throwing a Birthday Party for the hospital.

Ealing Save Our NHS write:

The 2012 the NHS North West London (NWL) ‘Shaping a Healthier Future’ (SaHF) plan condemned the hospital to lose its Major Hospital status with no Accident and Emergency services.

Thankfully that plan was abandoned in March 2019, but not before Maternity, Paediatrics and Children’s A&E had been closed down. At least £256 million was wasted on SaHF. However mounting debts across NHS NWL now threaten jobs and the range and depth of clinical services at the hospital.

In 2013 all purchasing/commissioning of the hospital passed to the newly formed Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs.) During 2014 Ealing Hospital lost its Trust status and became part of a large Trust, with a large name (London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust). This Trust is dominated by the large Major Hospital at Northwick Park. St Mark’s and Central Middlesex Hospitals are also in this Trust. Since 2014 clinical management of all Ealing Hospital services has been carried out remotely from Harrow. In September 2014 SaHF directed the closure of the A&E units at Central Middlesex and Hammersmith Hospitals. Ever since, the pressure on the remaining seven NHS Major Hospitals in NWL – including Ealing - has been relentless.

Ealing Save Our NHS (ESON) (www.ealingsaveournhs.org.uk) has been fighting the corner of Ealing Hospital and for improved local GP and community healthcare services for seven years. We played our part in consistently exposing the flaws in the SaHF plans to local residents, the press and regional NHS management.

ESON wants to see Ealing Hospital re-launched. Incredibly there is no on-site Director at the ospital and it’s very hard to discover exactly what clinical services are on offer there. There are plenty of heroes at the hospital and they need all the support we can give them.

On Tuesday 5th November a Music Hall Birthday Party has been arranged at the hospital’s local Pub ‘The Viaduct’. Participants are promised popular Victorian songs, comedy, speciality acts and variety entertainment. NHS staff along with local professional and amateur entertainers are the performers.

The event aims to entertain and celebrate the past, current and future of Ealing Hospital and the NHS. We are drawing on the talents of NHS staff, local professional and amateur entertainers to re-create a Victorian-type Music Hall. You’ll experience singing, recitation, comedy, music, impressions and much more. Song sheets will be provided so you can sing-along to Victorian Music Hall favourite

It’s 7:30pm , with the door opening at 7:00pm. There is a Licensed Bar in the Music Hall and finger food will be available at 7:00pm and during the interval.

‘The Viaduct’, 221 Uxbridge Road, Hanwell, W7 3TD

Tickets cost £10 and this includes food. The venue holds just 100 and ticket sales are underway. To book go to:www.eventbrite.co.uk
